The Influence of Advertising on Consumer Behavior

IELTS Writing Task 2

Response: There have been competing views on whether advertisement persuades people successfully or whether it is so common to attract people. In my opinion, advertisements are not as provocative as before in grabbing customers' attention. Some people argue that cutting-edge technology has increased brand awareness. For example, ordinary people can advertise their products via Instagram but this possibility was not available a few years ago and they had to pay for an advertisement. Additionally, celebrity endorsements influence people's decisions to purchase even shampoo. For instance, a shampoo called Clear was advertised by Cristiano Ronaldo and an increasing number of people are still using this brand. So, celebrity endorsement has been an effective form of persuasion recently. Those on the other side of the argument believe that an increasing number of advertisements have bombarded individuals in recent years. People are bored with repetitive advertising on YouTube and believe that advertisement spoils the flow while they are watching a video. When people are engrossed in a video clip then a pop-up pauses it and they will skip the advertisement with no thought to watch the rest of the program. So, publicizing hasn't found a successful way to attract customers. Furthermore, many companies don’t apply creativity to publicize a product, so people are less inclined to watch an advertisement that just introduces the features of a product. To conclude, considering both views on whether advertising is still convincing or not, I reckon that advertising is not only unattractive but also frustrating, because companies opt for passive ways to convince people to purchase.

Response: Some students tend to learn more about other subjects apart from their major subjects, while other learners argue that dedicating their full time and attention to studying one main study is more essential. Personally, I completely agree with former perspective and will discuss both sides in more detail. To begin with, those who advocate to learning various subjects have their own reasons. Firstly, they believe that school curriculum should consists of diverse activities including art classes, physical education and musical instrument classes. These programs provide an opportunity for students to foster their abilities and learning multitasking. Secondly, communication skills and cooperative attitude are taught in these kinds of classes by professional tutors. For example, by attending in football classes, both genders could enhance their functional abilities significantly. Finally, if students learn to do more activity simultansouly, their brain will develop effectively. On the other hand, those who believe in one major subjects have their own perspective. Students could focus and concentrate effectively on one major study which offers students a better environment for improving. In other words, learners would study their lessons without any distractions and could also save their time significantly. The more time students spend on one topic, the better outcomes they will probably have in exams. Research has indicated that the quality of learning one major subject will affect children’s future career. Moreover, if students engage one main subject, they are likely to become successful in that position. In conclusion, although concentrating on one major study could benefit students positively and impact on their future, I firmly believe that learning other studies such as arts, music, and sports is more beneficial than learning one subject.

The Importance of Taking Risks in Life

Response: Taking risky decisions is a matter which is usually advised to grow in both personal life and professional career. While such decision could yield some negative results, I strongly believe the merits coming along often outweigh the potential drawbacks. On the one hand, some possible disadvantages might discourage people from taking risks as coming out of the comfort zone usually is a hard decision and needs a lot of thinking. Take migration to another country as an obvious example of risky decisions; loneliness and homesick are likely the first personal issues coming into mind whenever we want to talk about living abroad. Migrants have to leave their families and friends behind, relocating to a place where they do not know anyone. In such situation, language barriers often aggravate the circumstance to make new friends. From a professional perspective, leaving the financial stability in your own country and starting a new career path elsewhere is not an easy task and there is the risk of going bankrupt. in spite of all the arguments above, I deeply believe risk taking is necessary to improve and the brighter future that can come along risky decisions should not be overlooked. When we read about or talk with successful individuals, the majority of them point to a time they put aside their fear, changing their lives by an important decision. For instance, Cristiano Ronaldo, widely regarded as the greatest footballer of all time, at his 18, an age that many of his peers scared even to live alone, decided to relocate to the UK from his own country to play in a greater football club. From then on, his well-known career began, with achieving all the possible trophies. By that risky decision, not only did he leave a legacy in football, but he also have provided a luxurious life style for himself and his family in their personal lives. To sum up, although it is accepted that coming out from one’s comfort zone is a hard and could be along with some problems, the positive outcomes of such decisions are so worthwhile that people should try their chance.

Response: There is an ongoing debate about the effectiveness of advertisements. While some argue that nowadays these commercials no longer have their impact on individuals, others advocate for the significant effects of advertisement. In my view, advertising still has its effective strategies to influence people. On the one hand, it is undeniably true that people easily purchase goods based on the advertisement that they watched. The science of experts who create them is a major reason for the power of advertising. Most of them are industrial psychologists who studied human behaviours and the techniques of persuading people. In this way, they know the exact colors and words to attract customers, and even their needs are obvious to them. Additionally, in the wake of technological advancements, individuals have access to many online platforms, such as Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, which make it easy to advertising agency to draw different groups of customers. On the other hand, despite the above arguments, other group argue that because of the public awareness of these commercial's facts, they are not being affected by them. First of all, people notice that advertisements are not always show the truth of the products, they are actually some special effects, for example, the fast-food restaurants, their food advertised images are not often quiet the same as the reality. Moreover, as individuals face too many commercial breaks on different platforms, these advertisements have become far normal for viewers, so they prefer to skip instead of watching them or purchasing the premium version to avoid advertising. In conclusion, people hold different views on whether advertising still has its power to attract customers or not. Although some believe that people are aware that advertisements sometimes hide the truth, therefore they will not be affected, others argue that the methods are used on advertising meet the market demands. lassert that commercial advertising has the most vital impact on the humans.

Response: These days, the majority of people with healthy issues prefer to use alternative medicines and treatments rather than meeting their usual doctors. I firmly believe that it will have detrimental effects on peoples’ health and it is not a positive development due to several reasons that I will mention in this essay. To begin with, one reason why using alternative treatments instead of visiting doctors a negative development is that it will have detriment effects on people’s health. When people are struggling with health issues, they will require to be examined, and doctors diagnose their main problems. If they try alternative medicines, they will be more likely to pose a difficulty in doctor’s diagnosis. For example, people struggling with high blood pressure, a dangerous disease, for example; if they not been treated by doctors can lead to serious problems such as stroke, heart disease as some alternative medicines may not be experimented by scientist and have serious side effects for people who suffer from high blood pressures. Moreover, another reason that if illnesses try to use alternative medicines instead of meeting their doctors is not a positive development is that it can undermine medical professionals. When illnesses use unknown medicines, they may get good results in some situations without knowing about their side effects, leading to destroying trust among people and doctors as they think their health issues get over completely. Take some herbal medicines such as ginger which are useful for health issues sometimes, for example; it can give people a sense of healing temporary, making people think their problem have been ameliorate and it is not essential to meet doctor. In conclusion, I firmly believe that using alternative medicines and treatments can be a negative development due to its potential to pose a threaten on people’s health as an abundant of them have not been experimented and it can adversely affect medical professionals and people may not trust in doctors easily.

Response: There is an ongoing debate about whether professionals should stay in the place where they have learned their qualifications, or they should be free to change their locations and choose anywhere they prefer to work. Some people have always been passionate about helping their peers and they believe that everybody has to serve people from their homtown and their country. Governments provide facilities to invest on different majors, and people who have the opportunity to increase their skills, should make it up in the future by using their abillities in order to support country. For instance, when studentst study medicine at the university, they participate in the classes to increase their knowledge, Moreover, there are free accesses to laboaotories and equipments which help them to foster their talents. The point is that lots of these thins are provided by taxes, and ordinary people pay these taxe. So when they graduate as medical doctors, they owe to the society to support them with health and care services On the other hand, others mention that human is created free and they have the authority to do whatever they want and to live whenever they like. They say that is not fair to obligate them to live in a certain place jut because they have been trained there. For example, consider a baby which was born in remote place in the world, he tried hard to make progresses in his career, now he is able to travel to the developed countries and enjoy his achivements in new location. It is something that should not be judged. From my perspective, every individual is responsible for their lives. There must not be any obligation about these kind of decisions. it is crucial to respect each idea and give the autorithy to everyone to determine their routes in life.

The Future of Printed Media

Response: An increasing number of people are using e-books and podcasts rather than printed books. It is argued that printed books and newspapers will disappear in the future. I believe that the convenience and affordability of online reading may result in the deletion of printed ones. To begin with, there is no limitation to reading by technology. People can easily search in a variety of online libraries and start to read their favorite books, so cutting-edge technology has provided convenient reading. When individuals can read various books without carrying them, they will be more inclined to use technology. For example, students can have all of the school books on a phone, while they are traveling or there is no access to the original books. Although these portable books may lead to staring at screens for a long time, I reckon that using technology in an appropriate way prevents diseases. Furthermore, expensive books in libraries could be freely purchased. Online reading reduces the necessity of paying too much money. Therefore, there is access to any book which was impossible for some people to buy. When students can read various books, they will be more informed about subjects and consequently, more capable in school. Moreover, online books have provided opportunities for people at work. For instance, reading books on a break at work not only brings a sense of productivity but also improves the per capita reading in countries. To conclude, I strongly agree that accessible and affordable books may result in the disappearance of printed newspapers and printed books; however, these online books may bring some problems such as blurred vision.

The Importance of Saving Money for the Future

Response: It is an imperative for mankind to save money for future, and I align myself with this statement. These days, saving money seems unimportant and hard. People work to live better lives but the amount of their salaries might not be as much as they need. Sometimes incomes are not sufficient for living conveniently. Consequently, people don't have enough money to save for future. More over, young people that has just started to work, don't get paid enough to save extra money. Take university students as an example. They need to pay for their education and if they receive extra money, it won't be helpful due to high amount of purchase they have. But what if an unpredictable thing happens to them? On the other hand, people should always separate a part of their salary for future. Firstly, if you force yourself not to buy unnecessary stuff or not to go on unnecessary trips, you can save some money. When you are not prepared for an unpredictable event, this money would save you. Secondly, without saving money, you would not have the ability to buy expensive things. For instance when you decide to buy a house you need to save money for years in order to be prepared. Finally, saving money may allows you to change your job whenever you want. Indeed when you have some money saved, it allows you to be unemployement for a while, until you find the best career without rush. In conclusion, although it might seem hard or sometimes impossible to save money, it is beneficial and sometimes crucial.

Response: In the contemporary era, the technology has witnessed an unprecedented surge, reflecting a significant shift in people’s habits. Nowadays, smartphones have changed the face of world and we see children spend a vast amount of time on smartphones. I argue that the negative consequences of using digital devises, particularly in term of social and personal life, far outweigh the benefits, making it a largely detrimental breakthrough. Many researchers believe that the paramount importance of spending many hours in smartphones is related to social media because they allow them to establish cross-cultural friendships and also deep connections. So, they can get familiar with different individuals and it give them a sense of joy. Moreover, as technology develops nothing remains unchanged and the way children attend class is no exception. Many proponents argue that one of the main reasons of spending a lot of time on these cold-hard digital devises is due to the growth of online class. A debate has emerged about whether smart phones are detrimental or not. Many supporters opine it can be beneficial in some aspects such as online education, and provide opportunities for those children that do not assess in quality training. While many proponents think a number of deficiencies are associated with using smart phones. For instance, it can be significantly perilous for children health, affecting not only mental health but also physical. They say loudly setting for a long hours while children using their smart gadgets can lead to dire consequences such as obesity, poor eyesight and spinal-related problems. Furthermore, in terms of mental issues a large number of scientists believe it may result in isolation. In conclusion, times have changed and the ways of living have as well. These days, many children spend many time on smart phones and online education and social media are two crucial factors that contributes in this phenomenon. While many assert that it can be worthwhile, I firmly believe that the multitude of drawbacks derived from using a lot from digital devises do not represent a viable approach.
