The Influence of Advertising on Consumer Behavior

IELTS Writing Task 2

Response: A number of people believe that advertising can be considered an effective approach that influences consumers to buy goods. However, others claim that it is so commonplace that it can no longer grab people’s attention. Although advertising is becoming more common in people’s view, I think it is still extremely powerful because it has been designed to convince people to purchase consumer goods in an unconscious way. On the one hand, it might be argued that people have been fed with enormous advertisements, especially on social media platforms. As a consequence, people may become very insensitive to what those advertisements are promoting, and most of the time, they seldom browse web pages without paying enough attention to online advertisements. However, I totally disagree with this argument because if advertising did not yield sales, most social media companies and influencers who endorse products would not become affluent. On the other hand, there is an opinion that advertising is good at inspiring people to buy things. For example, many manufacturers and big companies use plenty of advertising techniques like celebrity endorsements and snob appeal to manipulate people’s minds to buy their products. Furthermore, most of the time, these kinds of advertisements are more appealing, and as a result, it is hard to resist the temptation of buying. I agree with this viewpoint because people purchase impulsively, buying things they might not even have thought of if the advertisement had not planted the idea in their heads. In conclusion, while some people believe that the overwhelming amount of advertisements may make people get used to them, I believe it is still very effective because it creates the desire in consumers to purchase products.

Response: Some vehicles such as trucks and buses will change to autonomous vehicles. So, all of the people inside these vehicles are passengers. In my view, this subject's demerits are insignificant compared to its benefits. In the following essay, I will discuss its merits for urban issues and passengers as well. On the one hand, in recent years some problems like traffic congestion and vehicle accident rates, have experienced an upward trajectory and acting as a barrier to urban design and causing people dissatisfaction in society. In my opinion, to tackle these problems self-driving vehicles contribute to decreasing several human errors caused by fatigue or breaking the law of the driver, some examples of which include illegal speeding, not paying attention to traffic signs, and not keeping a distance allowed to other drivers. On the other hand, the population of people who trust state-of-the-art technology has increased. For instance, every society has some people who are not interested in using means of transportation such as buses due inter alia to the carelessness of the driver and its failure to choose the right path. But when the government uses driverless buses as a mode of transportation these people are keen on using these buses because they think there are more reliable than humans. In conclusion, utilizing autonomous cars in the city brings an avalanche of benefits to society and urban environments. Not only can this method cut down the traffic congestion and accident percentage but it can also cause more convince from almost every person.

Response: Nowadays, the worrisome amount of sugar in industrial foods and drinks causes many sugar-related diseases for most people who consume them. In my view, the government should increase the prices of products with a high sugar proportion to discourage people from buying them. In this day and age, people because of their life-peace speed which is rapid do not have sufficient time to do exercise. Thus, at a minimum, they should have a healthy diet to hinder diseases, some examples of which include cardiovascular diseases as well as high blood pressure. Sugary products are recognized as the biggest barrier in this approach. Because of their taste, accessibility, and price, they are appeal to all ages. Raising the rate of selling of sugary products worldwide rings a bell of alarm for societies and governments. In current years, some countries have taken major steps in this field. Changing their society's taste is far from easy for them nonetheless, they can increase the cost of these products to prevent people from buying these groceries. For instance, the France government not only increased the price of foods and drinks with high sugar ratio but also took more tax from people buying these kinds of products. Soaring inflation rates force people to save money and reduce the cumulative cost of living. Raising the cost of these sugary products affects people's purchasing and decreases it. In conclusion, the far easiest way for policy-makers make contribute to cutting down the usage of sugary products is by changing the prices and make these stuff much more expensive. From my perspective, this method brings tremendous benefits to society and creates more healthy diets for them.

Response: Most foods and drinks, which humans use daily, are high in sugar. These products play essential roles in the rise of the risk of various diseases. Some people argue that by increasing the price of sugary products, a reduction in consumption can be achieved. I partially agree with this statement. This essay shall highlight my opinion in the upcoming paragraphs. To begin with, food items ' cost is the primary factor for most consumers whenever they purchase goods for their household. Therefore, if the government raises this product's cost, the consumer's focus will be shifted away from buying them. For example, alcoholic drinks are one of those that are not only popular among people but also high in sugar. Also, decades of research and country experiences worldwide have demonstrated that increasing the price of alcoholic beverages through taxation is one of the most cost-effective policies to lower drinking levels. Secondly, raising the price of sugary goods becomes more and more practical when the public is made aware of how harmful sugar can be. In addition, media can play a significant role in that case. To be clear, inviting doctors and leading dieticians to TV programs, who determine the appropriate amount of sugar consumption that has the least harm to health, is beneficial. They can also inform people about the common health problems caused by overeating sugar, including diabetes, heart attack, and obesity. On the other hand, increasing the price of products containing sugar is unsuitable for some daily sugary products, including rice and pasta. These are essential ingredients that every person should have them in their diet to have physical and mental health, so increasing their price can cause huge problems through eliminating from human's diet. For instance, rice is a key source of vitamins, which directly plays a considerable role in the human health of hair and skin. Furthermore, not eating rice causes beriberi illness. In conclusion, overeating sugary products will endanger human health in the near future. One solution to solve its problem is to raise these product cost. however, I agree with this recommendation, but it should not contain all types of high-sugary manufactured products, especially rice, and pasta.

Response: Music is alleged to be an appropriate means for making a relation between individuals and declining the distance caused by varied culture and different age ranges. There are various perspectives about how well music is in closing people together. Although music cannot perform well due to language berriers and an utter age gap between generations, it is an astonishing motive for encouraging people to learn other languages and listen to different music. Music may not have effects upon closing people together in some circumstances. Those who have different points of views about music mention that music is an extra activity amongst other tasks so individuals generally don’t care to the meaning of lyrics when they are carrying out some crucial undertakings. People listen to music for getting some pleasure, and they do not understand the meaning especially about foreign music. Music, therefore, is not an extremely helpful way for cultural exchange. An enormous changes have been imposed to music style du to substantial gaps between different generations. The elderlies usually are not enchanted by contemporary music and there is reversed opinion about the youngers. Music, consequently, will not be a proper way of bringing people of different ages together if there is a substantial difference between the favorite music of individuals. Conversely, I will argue that the significance of effects of music in this matter is profound. Music is an adequate reason for encouraging individuals to learn a foreign language and search about a country. As a result, they can enjoy the music more when they understand the meaning or the history behind it. Additionally, one of the simplest ways to understand other generations is listening to their music which is popular in its time. Composer and artists generally write about current concerns in their songs so people can realize others who are not in same ages. Parents, for instance, try to listen new music genres to become more familiar with their children’s hobbies and favorites. Those are the reasons why many people believe that music has been successful in fostering humans’ relations. In conclusion, music may not be fruitful in bringing individuals together when there is not enough enthusiasm about understanding the meaning of foreign music or there is a vast difference between favorable music of generations. It, however, is superior motivation for learning a second language and get some information about another culture and getting close to whom are not ones’ contemporaries.

Response: It is certainly true that in most countries, individuals are now purchasing meals from different states in the malls. In my opinion, the merits of this case are more than its demerits. On the one hand, there can be a number of drawbacks of buying varying food made around the world. Firstly, there is a possibility that the quality of those dishes is unacceptable. What I mean by this is that while the products are inspected before they are brought to supermarkets, they are likely to lose their calories and deteriorate in quality over time as well as ultimately, become unhealthy. For instance, according to researches, approximately 20% of people in Uzbekistan are suffering from various diseases due to consuming meals produced in other countries. Secondly, the import of food to a state might be a causative factor in the failure of sales of local food centers. To be more precise, consumers can be crazy about the dishes of other countries and more and less buy local food. On the other hand, some individuals, including me, feel that there are several benefits of consuming food made abroad. Firstly, their unique and tasty flavour can be enjoyed and eaten more by local people. This will undoubtedly be a great source of income for businessmen engaged in foreign food trade. Secondly, local grocers whose sales are failing can create new innovations and novelties, namely, new types of food products and recipes in order to rise the number of customers again. To conclude, I strongly believe that the downsides bringing foreign food into malls can be dominated by its advantages like making a huge contribution to the country's stock market and motivating local entrepreneurs.

Response: In present times, the advancements in technology have been a boon for the mankind. In near future, a majority of the population would to e-materials due to the pervasive nature of Internet instead of buying paperbacks or hardbacks. I completely agree with this statement and will discuss it further in the forthcoming paragraphs. Nowadays, e-books have become quite ubiquitous all over devices, such as mobiles, laptop, tablets, and many more. This can be attributed to their portable nature and ease of access, making it available for everyone, regardless of wherever they are. Moreover, online materials are mostly free and pretty economical for the pockets. To exemplify, students no longer need to carry heavy loads of books in their bags instead of single device can do multipurpose work for instance, reading and jotting down notes. Additionally, the web has access to millions of books and print media in an organised format, making it more easy for a user to find a specific kind of material. Furthermore, applications display news in a summarised manner, leaving out all the unnecessary and redundant information. As a result, both time and money can be saved. However, e-books and e-newspapers can never replace the physical touch and nature of hard copies. To explicate, one can actively recall information better than reading it on a device. To summarise, e-media has a variety of benefits over print media ranging from portability to affordability. it has revolutionised the way news portrayed in the present. Though, it has many useful applications, print media will always remain irreplaceable.

Response: According to recent research, many people suggest that having a competition at work, school, or in daily life can improve their mind and help them work harder. However, other claims that a focus on cooperation would be an ideal way due to high levels of motivation. In my opinion, competition can yield significant outcomes, but it's better to collaborate with others. On the one hand, today the majority of people are in competition during their life. Competitions can lead to individuals improving their minds and working harder due to the competitive spirit that motivates everyone to work harder and gain new experiences. foe example After school graduation, every student will enter university, where many students will compete against each other. on the other hand, fostering in collaborative environment is more valuable. when peoples work with a smarter partners than they can notice their mistakes and easily correct them also it is gives them motivation to work harder and to be on the one level with thier partners. for instance, sophomore student can help to the freshman student to produce a presentation or delivered some ideas for them, as a result; freshman student will get motivation and support to work harder. In conclusion, living with competition can lead some people working harder due to competitive spirit and achieve their goals. However, collaboration plays a fundamental part of human development because of high levels of motivations and feedbacks and advices that's given by smarter individuals.

Accepting vs. Improving Bad Situations

Response: Some people believe that, accepting a bad situation is best , for example a job or shortage of money. Others think that it is better to try and improve such situations. Based on my knowledge, some people choose to accepted bad situation. They thought that good things would come through accept a bad situation. They also thought that if there assume bad condition they can learn a lots from them. For example, a student gets 69 marks in his examination, he needs one more mark for getting A grade. He also noticed that, his teacher cut one mark although the answer was right. But he didn’t say anything. He thought that when he remembered about it, it will encourage him for more study and he will do better in future examinations. Hence, this explains why some people choose to accept the bad situation. Beside that, it is also mentioned that others argue that it is better to try and improve bad situations. I also believe the reason, because sometimes if they accept the bad situations it will be worse. For instance, if a person does an unsatisfactory job which has a low salary. Logically, at a point his pocket will be empty. He will suffer from a shortage of money. If he accepts the situation he must have to live in the street or he cannot lead a good life. Rather than accept the condition he must have to do something better to overcome the situation. Therefore, it explains why other people argue to try and improve bad situations. In my honest opinion, I strongly suggest every person should make a decision according to the situation. When facing a problem if they think to solve the problem is better for them they should try and improve the situation. But if they think acceptance is better, they can learn from acceptance then they should copy the situation. In conclusion, the most important thing when facing a bad situation is to analyse the problem then only you can react to them. Not all bad situations need to be ignored and not all need to be improved. Think wisely to get a better solution for all of your problems.
