Some people believe that technological progress has made our lives more difficult. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Some argue that life has been made difficult by technological progress. Although I admit that technological advancement has brought some challenges for human life, I believe that its benefits are far more significant.
On the one hand, technological advancement might be problematic for some reasons. Firstly, it increases stress and reduces interpersonal connections. This is because we are surrounded by a vast range of emails, notifications, and updated social media, which bring anxiety and burnout. This dependence on digital communications leads to eroding face-to-face interaction and weakening social bonds, making individuals not only antisocial but also depressed. Secondly, both automation and high-quality facilities at home transform human life, the most harmful of which is a sedentary lifestyle; diabetes and high blood pressure are common diseases related to this.
On the other hand, in my opinion, the benefits of science and technology outweigh the drawbacks. Firstly, thanks to the internet, which is the most important aspect of modern progress, it brings convenience for relationships across distances and bridges gaps between people and cultures; using online applications enhances global connectivity. For instance, students studying in another country can connect with their family through advanced applications such as video calls. Therefore, it fosters mental well-being personally and enhances social healthcare. Secondly, technological shifts eliminate discrimination and create a huge range of job opportunities. For example, individuals who have busy lives, such as mothers, can work either remotely or freelancing. Besides, automation streamlines repetitive tasks such as responding to emails, thereby allowing people to concentrate on cultivating their creativity and intelligence.
In conclusion, while advanced technology may bring some difficulties, its positives are more suitable and impressive in human life.
