Some might argue that the extinction of specific species is the major issue in our today’s world, while others may believe that there are more concerning problems with our environment. In my opinion, climate change and greenhouse gases are the fundamental problems that should be addressed first.
On the one hand, the loss of flora and fauna of a particular land may contribute to bigger challenges. Development of industry has caused many lands to change its application for industrials favor, whereas the natural habitat of animals has been destroyed. Therefore, these lands and their indigenous people may face problems such as droughts, shortage of water or food supply. For instance, a study shows that a special type of tree is vital for people from south America, which can provide the residents with water. This tree has long roots up to 60 centimeters into the soil and can have access to deep waters. Additionally, this tree gives fruits that can the main source of nutrients for people there. Hence, by extinction of some species, lives could be put at risk.
On the other hand, issues such as emission of greenhouse gasses that contributes to climate change can results in unprecedented effects on our planet and our health. These challenges may be one of the reasons that species are in danger. Reduction in air quality can strain both humans and animals raspatory or even their neurological systems which is perceived as lethal. Thus, more animals can be on the verge of extinction. Moreover, high temperature. which is caused by climate change, can attribute to the rise of sea levels, that ultimately jeopardize both people’s lives and environment.
Weighing both views, I believe that there are much more pressing issues that should be prioritized to tackle. Problems that encapsulate other challenges as well, such as loss of unique types of animals and plants.
In conclusion, even though some may think that specific species should be protected against the extinction, I argue that there are more issues that need to be solved, namely rising levels of exhaust fumes and climate change.
